This October, Restart A Heart Live is back – and we’re inviting schools across Scotland and the UK to help us Fill Our Schools with Lifesavers.

On Thursday 1 October 2026, classrooms, families and communities will come together for a free, interactive livestream teaching CPR and defibrillator awareness. Whether you’re joining from a primary school, secondary school, workplace or community group, everyone can learn simple life-saving skills that could one day help save a life.

Why take part?

Every year, thousands of people in Scotland experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. The actions taken in the first few minutes before an ambulance arrives can make a crucial difference, and learning CPR gives people the confidence to act when it matters most.

Restart A Heart Live is designed to make CPR learning easy and accessible. There’s no specialist equipment required – participants can practise using a cushion, folded jacket or even a teddy bear while following along with the live session.

Last year, Restart A Heart Live reached more than 132,000 viewers across the UK, with schools from all four nations taking part. This year, we’re aiming to inspire even more young people to become confident lifesavers.

Sessions for everyone

Throughout the day, we’ll be running a range of live sessions suitable for different audiences, including:

• Primary school pupils.
• Secondary school pupils.
• Families and communities.
• Welsh-language sessions.

All sessions teach the same essential CPR and defibrillator awareness skills, with some sessions designed to be a little more engaging for younger learners.
